How I Think? – System Map for NYC ISchool teaching method

I was in a course called Learning through design and we went around schools in NYC looking for the presence of “design thinking”.

A final assignment was to write a paper comparing 2 of the schools. I chose a Constructivist school and the NYC ISchool. This is how I organize my thoughts to break up how the school works.

Lets make people smile — A game concept

The goal of this game is to see if i can make a brighter day. I went out with a really ugly self portrait that i had done of myself. Persona for the DOT

This was a persona developed in order to understand the values of the DOT, this was not an actual project for the DOT. The quotes are pulled from interviews with actual DOT commissioners and most of the information is based off of research on what DOT does

And that is a daunting task because we have to try and make everyone happy.” We are in charge of the streets, the sidewalks, the bridges, the tunnels, the ferry, the streetlights, the street signals, the street signs and the street markings. Basically speaking we are in charge of a lot. And thinking about all of those things and the size of NYC that is a lot to be worried about and a lot to keep under control. Thats why we divided up all of NYC into sections: staten island, manhattan, the bronx, brooklyn, queens and lower manhattan. We each work with each other and all answer to our boss the first deputy commissioner who in turn answers to his boss the Commissioner.
